Another Nu-Roc Community Healthcare Senior Picnic has come and gone. This year's event was held on one of the hottest days of the summer, making the breeze and shade tents very popular. As usual, a large crowd was on hand to enjoy a delicious lunch put on by the fabulous Nu-Roc dietary department. Greg Tallier and Lee Lamers, both from Wabeno, provided a great background of toe tappin' country music.
Many of the guests chose to purchase tickets for a 50/50 raffle, and the winner was……….Irene Koch of Mountain! (Rumor has it that she'll be taking her husband out for a nice dinner.) Congratulations Irene! There were a few other big winners as well----Administrator Craig Newton played his famous "card poker". Bea Flegal of Wabeno walked away with $50.00; Jim Eerinsse of Wabeno won $30.00; and Louise Mikolajczyil from Armstrong Creek won $20.00. Louise was especially excited, stating, "I won last year, too!" Winning $10.00 each were Ruth Laurich and Eleanor Chrisnovich of Goodman, Art Winkelman of Laona, Judy Roberts of Pembine, and Jan Subert of Wabeno.
All the Nu-Roc staff is proud to be part of this annual tradition. Thanks to all who attended. Hope to see ya next year!!
The Nursing Assistant class from Nicolet College in Rhinelander recently completed clinicals at Nu-Roc Community Healthcare.
Students doing clinicals must complete 40 hours of hands-on care under direct supervision. Joe Placek, RN, instructor of the course, had high praise for Nu-Roc. According to Joe, “Nu-Roc has a very good reputation, ensuring the clinical experience provides a good example of high quality care.” The students, who came from Rhinelander, Crandon, Eagle River, and the Lakeland area, said they had a very positive experience. They found the staff at Nu-Roc to be very helpful and supportive. One of the students stated that the residents were curious, asking many questions about the class and the outcome.
The clinical program is a win-win situation for both Nicolet College and Nu-Roc. According to Craig Newton, administrator, “We are very fortunate to be partnered with Nicolet in the clinical program.” It gives our facility more exposure, and we are happy to be part of the education process.”
Craig Newton, Administrator at Nu-Roc Community Healthcare was recently selected to be named Administrator of the Year by the Wisconsin Representatives of Activity Professionals (WRAP). Craig was honored at the annual WRAP convention in Stevens Point earlier this month.
This was a statewide search honoring the Administrator who WRAP has found to be the most supportive towards the well being of those living in his facility. The residents at Nu-Roc sent WRAP a letter complimenting Craig’s attitude, involvement, and understanding of their needs.
This honor recognizes the efforts of the Administration at Nu-Roc to ensure a high quality of life for its residents. They support all efforts of staff and volunteers to maintain the highest level of activity for all who live within the facility.
Nu-Roc Community Healthcare is proud to announce that its New Responder 4000 Call Light System is up and running. At every bedside, it allows two-way voice communication between staff and residents. Its enhanced visual displays alert staff of calls anywhere in the building, regardless of staff location. In addition, reporting software provides valuable, up-to-the-minute information on all residents in the facility to ensure the highest levels of resident care.
Managers now have an easy and effective way to track and analyze calling activity in a single zone or throughout the entire facility. This powerful feature will provide accurate data to help management assess staffing needs and adjust staff assignments as necessary.
According Nu-Roc’s owners and administrators, “This new state-of-the-art call light system is a leader in its class. The system at Nu-Roc has been customized to fit our needs and will help us in our mission to provide our residents with the highest quality of care possible.”
